Founded in 1607, Santa Fe, New Mexico is arguably the country's oldest state capital. Although not the most populated in terms of residents, it is still full of intrigue, activity and charm. When you visit Santa Fe boutique hotels offer the same unique "charm" of the city, along with some of the most quaint and beautiful accommodations.

Santa Fe is a constant travel destination for those looking for great music, art, excellent dining and exceptional scenic beauty. Located 7,000 feet above sea level, it offers an unequaled level of diversity and culture. In fact, in the early part of the 20th century, Santa Fe attracted artists including Alfred Stieglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe. These are only a few of some of the most prominent people to be attracted to the uniqueness and wonderful appeal of the city.

It is not surprising to know that Santa Fe is filled with great spas and wonderful resorts. These spas provide total relaxation for those looking for a completely serene and soothing getaway. In fact, when you stay in Santa Fe boutique hotels provide some of the best accommodations and friendly service to help you enjoy your escape. If you are looking for a selection of great spas, the attendants at the hotels will be more than willing to help.

Santa Fe's elevation is impressive. Since Santa Fe is 7,000 feet above sea level, visitors can truly escape from everything. This also gives the city the recognition of having the highest state capital within the country. When visiting the city, it is extremely important to keep the elevation in mind. Its location in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain foothills gives it the fortunate ability to provide some of the most captivating views you could ever imagine and allows the area to have some of the mildest weather in the country. However, the downside is that it can be a little challenging when you first arrive to be at such a high altitude. For this reason, on the first day or so, it is very important to keep activities to light things such as touring the city or taking a simple walk around the area. This allows the body to adapt easily to the conditions.

One of the best aspects of the city is that it is a very active city in terms of getting around and especially walking. It is not surprising to find people walking even late into the night. This is because the downtown area is always active and very vibrant. You can easily take a stroll of the downtown area and have lots of fun meeting new people and seeing some of the city's wonderful sights.

To truly enjoy the city and learn about its wonderful and unique history, a tour is advisable. Tours usually don't last more than two hours, but these will be two hours well spent. You will be able to view everything from the city's charming architecture to the growth of the culture and so much more.

The atmosphere of the city is one of the reasons people love to come visit. With its Old West sort of feel, you get the sense of being in a small town. To this effect, you can visit the center square in the city and really experience the true Santa Fe. There you can sit on a bench, relax and just watch the happenings in the city. There is no doubt that you will be more than entertained at all the different sights and activities you will see before your eyes. This is especially the case during the warm summer evenings.

Like other cities that you might visit, Santa Fe has wonderful museums, art, festivals and other great activities that bring the community together and allow visitors to feel a part of the city. The city is proud to contain many museums. For example, the Palace of the Governors, a part of the New Mexico History Museum, is the United States' oldest public building and was once the main capitol of Santa Fe. The Palace of the Governors, although a wonderful artifact in itself, is impressive in the amount of items it displays that visitors are able to see and explore.

Santa Fe is a unique city that offers lots of great culture and entertainment, yet it has a wonderful, comfortable atmosphere. When you visit Santa Fe boutique hotels are the perfect complement to the lovely atmosphere.
